People saying things like this is almost unbelievable to me. I had some rough spots with my parents as an uppity teen, but there was always a baseline and it never got truly ugly. They are divorced now but I consider them my best friends even now at nearly 40.

I never got along with my mother growing up. She’s high strung and drove up. Dad was mellow and chill and reasonable. She had betrayed me time and again when I was young by turning me over to the cops, juvenile hall, group home etc. of course dad had a part in that too. Dad died in 2010 and mom got aa boyfriend within two years, moved the loser into her house. I said some shit in texts and voicemails that landed me in front of a judge once again. She got a restraining order against me and that was the last straw. I moved two counties over and haven’t seen her since. The last time I saw my mother was in court.

i literally owe her my life. she has done so much for me, she even covered me for my mistakes and stupidity. yes i have an awesome mom and does have a sense of humor. she teases me constantly with stuff that i did as kid but at the same time she was also very strict if we do strayed out of the path she would not hesitate to physically punish us. so we knew what to do to avoid getting her angry. now as an elderly she is more mellow with the grandkids

but when she had a bad day watch out cuz she made us scrub the floor until it was shinny with mr clean or lavender stuff. the love was unforgettable as much as it was the beatings lol
