When Windows 10 reaches the end of its life [in five months] , you don't need to buy a new computer

The "End of 10" website is a cooperative effort to let people know that they have other options besides buying a new computer. The site seems to be Europe -oriented, but you can check it out. We need a similar site for Americans.

This comment is the obligatory "use linux" comment.

You're welcome.

Or just… keep using it. Just keep using it. Just stop obeying. Stop fucking obeying. Just keep using the computer. Ignore literally everything and use the computer.

Just.

Just keep.

What the fuck is this even about. I don’t want a single fucking person to ever tell me I’m wrong about the future again when people are so fucking retarded that they don’t comprehend this.

Keeping using Windows 7. I like having extra RAM available to run what I want instead of using it to run bloatware.

Windows 11 requires 8GB of RAM minimum, because just the OS occupies 6-7GB all on its own.

Remember when one could comment shit out in config.sys and autoexec.bat to maximize those 640kb or 1mb of ram one had?

I remember. Shit, even the order in which TSRs were loaded could save you a couple of kb.

People used Windows 7 for over 5 years past it's "End of Life". Users kept Window XP running for even longer.

I love windows xp, along with 85 billion other people. Okay... maybe not 85 billion but a LOT! 😱 I held off of Windows 10 for a long time but finally went with it and love that too. Windows 11... Meh. Not so much.

So did I until my computer conked on me. Win 7 was great, even after telemetry was snuck onto it. It was my favorite, and Win 8 and 10 sucked. I just posted this for info, but I'm planning to ditch Win 10 and go for Linux.

The biggest problem linux has is that none of the distros seem to have an easily understood method posted for Windows users on how to easily switch to it and then begin to use it.

There are HUNDREDS of videos on Youtube showing how to install, and use the basic features of each flavor of Linux.

Take 20minutes and do some searching and GL!. You can even setup your computer to dual boot both Windows and Linux. You just select which you use at startup.

People act like if you connect a windows xp machine to the internet there is a 100% chance it will be taken over instantly. In my experience that is not the case. Never had an issue running an older OS.

What's best flavor for somebody who distrusts Systemd and who beleives linux has spy packages unwittingly snuck into them via GNU and other open source that are actually malicious code.

I liked Zorin, but had difficulty downloading some games, so tried Garuda but the store never worked, and ended up on Nobara.

MX Linux is one which is said to be without System d, but it may have changed since I've checked. There are a few more, including one version of Mint, Devuan[sp?], I think.

And then Linux takes the center of attention.
