Myth - AI will just replace everyone

submitted by Cantaloupe to whatever 1 weekJun 5, 2025 10:31:08 ago (+5/-0)     (whatever)

If masses are cut off from the economy create a parallel economy. Localized trade networks, community backed currencies, underground markets.

Governments may try to control land

Nomadic off grid living
Guerilla production - hidden workshops, 3D printing, underground farming

Mass Exodus
Succesionist zones
Digital nomadism - remote work

To do otherwise is to be enslaved. To be farmed.

The Religious should oppose this, farming humans is evil

I think the term should be “displace” not replace. AI will alter the workforce not replace it. People will do something else. It’s like telling 20 field hands they won’t need to pull the plow any more because we are getting a mule! They’ll do something else.

That's not how it works. We can say that the world survived the change from the adoption of the combine harvester but we did it by killing all of those obsolete farm hands in WW1 and WW2. The dead unemployed made good soldiers.

Well, technically, going off to fight wars is “doing something else”

What I mean to say is the unemployed were systemically slaughtered. The 1950s were good because the people replaced by machines weren't competing for jobs. They were dead.

There will be a similar culling soon. Russia vs Ukraine was just the start.
