Sure that's possible and probably even probably now but the fact is that what I have seen is very specific things that have been said here in very unique ways including memes and other things that were uniquely created here were propagated to much larger platforms and spread and they got traction.

What you are describing is "heaven banning", different from shadow banning, as bots will interact with you. I don't have proof this actually goes on, but it's possible. Sometimes I will check a post I've made from an entirely different device and connection just to make sure there is no fuckery.
