I had posted earlier about MP3’s and having lived through peak technology of music only to watch it degrade. Certainly our era of history is not unique and this sort of commoditization has happened countless times. Manufacturing leaving the United States and designed obsolescence are great examples. What are some lesser known examples?

This website Upgoat works like a traditional forum despite the pervasiveness of social media - and is remarkably better than all social media outlets in every possible way. Amazing how simplicity in design can work so well.

Maybe a better file format in time. Like maybe FLAC or Orbis would pickup. It made sense that physical media began to go by the wayside: Vinyl records, 8-Track tapes, cassette tapes, optical discs. We finally landed on the digital mp3 computer file format in that late 90s / early 2000s. Now you could curate your entire collection on a hard disk, Solid State Disk, or Memory Card.

That was the pinnacle. The peak. Now people use mobile phones which have less functionality than a desktop computer (Making the youth non-proficient with technology) and now they pay for streaming services. Didn’t see that coming.

Here’s a trainwreck for ya: Some years ago, I found a small time YouTuber while researching a very niche topic. (One video) I subscribed to his channel to be nice. Over several months, this dude would release total basement-dwelling nerd shit. This was around the time the Soyboy memes started to pick up, so I kept his channel as a reference and shining example of how not to behave.

Anyway, I eventually unsubscribed because it was weird following someone simply to ridicule them. Some years later, I thought to myself: “gee, I wonder how that fat fuck otaku faggot is doing these days? Shit, maybe he finally manned up and hit the gym and laying off the chicken tendies.” I look him up on YouTube and he’s got videos explaining how he had his dick and balls removed and a hole installed. Like an hour long video explaining it. 🤮

It reminds me of the old Jordan Peterson spiels of being so far down in the social hierarchy that you manage to justify being such a loser faggot - and start making up your own fantasy to cope. The masculinity had been fleeting from this poor soul for a very long time now.
