Almost as insane as the odds of breaking into a pizzeria and firing an AR directly through the hard drive of the server that is hosting explicit and illegal image content. Like unbelievable odds. Truly

I put in an IBC combi-boiler when I built my place back in 2016. The thing is the nutz -it's called a combi because it provides for heat (hydronic base board / forced hot water) as well as hot water. You have to wait a little bit before the tap is running hot, but the thing is about 2' x 2' and mounts right to the wall in my mechanical room. My last house was oil-fired, using a Weill-McClain boiler / beckett-burner and an external super store tank for hot water. In the winter here in the north east, I would be going through a tank of oil every 5 weeks. With this new setup, a tank of propane can last me all winter. Your government hates you. If there was a propane pipeline that they could get away with blowing up, they would do it

Agreed, I was just thinking that your average coinstar dump is like 300 bucks and so if folks want to keep some of it, is all. Plus it's a painless way to start investing in crypto. In terms of privacy- I am under zero illusions that my identity on this blog as well as many others is not completely known to the powers that ought not be, but I do nothing illegal and I am a free speech purist. The reason it was made the very first amendment to out cherished bill of rights, is because it IS the most most important. Speech AND Bitcoin are NOT illegal. In fact, Bitcoin is an expression of free speech, in a financial sense

Gracias (although, honestly I can lose 50 bucks without much pain. Since I hit this URL regularly for both important updates on the world as well as much needed laughs)

Yes (and @WhiteCollarCriminal), thanks for the heads up. localcoinswap.com might also be an alternative, i'm fairly sure that there are several alternatives. I don't trade crypto's - I work a full time job and don't have the time to put into it, I just treat my BTC wallet on a Trezor device as a savings account basically and HODL. For me, the motivation is basically survive what's coming; the USD as a debt based fiat currency appears to be at the end of it's life, approaching 40 trillion in debt and adding another 1 trillion every three months, BTC appears to be an alternative that the biggest players on the planet are latching onto. I don't treat crypto's like a religion, but rather an alternative to dying fiat currency, no different than precious metals, certain equities, real estate, etc. It's hard to tell where to park your money, these days. I only know that leaving it in a bank with a .05% rate, when inflation fluctuates upward of 15% is a losing strategy

If nothing else, going through the learning exercise of figuring out how to donate a few dollars to a Monero address will prove to be a valuable experience for anyone that chooses to do so because by the time you have finished, you will know more about cryptocurrency than most other people. It will help you immensely.

Good point. Quick, easy method: any grocery store that has a coin star machine can convert those pennies that build up in your coffee can into BTC. Install the edge wallet on your cell phone. Dump your change into the coin star machine, take the balance out in BTC, using the address on your edge BTC wallet. When you get home, install the Monero wallet and convert your BTC to Monero in Edge. Donate to the vault string provided by @System

IS a hardware wallet worth it? The adage in crypto is "not your keys, not your coins". The only way to self custody is to keep your private keys in your own possession. I was using ledger wallet - company out of France using propriety tech and closed source. Trezor, on the other hand is out of some former eastern bloc country like romania or some shit, but it's an open source platform. With a HW wallet, your keys are in your possession. The big risk with crypto is theft: FTX, Mt. Gox, etc. Self-custody is a measure of protection akin to keeping your gold coins under your mattress as opposed to safe deposit box. Of course, there is no actual coins, the entire model is analogous to a massive shared spreadsheet (distributed ledger) in the cloud that uses standard public key infrastructure as a means to authenticate end-users and allow them to transfer deposits / withdrawals back and forth to each other. There are miners that are solving cryptographic problems in hopes of adding additional block rewards to their own addresses, node operators that validate changes to the block chain ledger and wallet holders. Your wallet can be in your custody, or on an exchange, or using a 3rd party (i.e. edge wallet). I am not an expert and keep things focused on BTC for two reasons: 1.) BTC has captured the attention of institutional money (Fidelity, Blackrock, etc), assuring its' continued increases in value, and 2.) I don't put the time into studying the thousands of other crypto tokens (i.e. ERC-20 tokens, developed using the ETH protocol) - every one is a study in and of itself. But the short answer to your question: yes, get a HW wallet

Just sent a paltry 4 bucks and change from my edge XMR wallet - it's all I had in there. I'll send more once I dig my Trezor out of it's hidey hole, convert some BTC to XMR then send across to the vault addy (honestly, no need to segregate accounts, this is your effort, your time and your money) EDIT: Just sent another 50 bucks (well, after fees was like 48). The laughs I get here are worth it (most recently, the reference to tall chick with big tits as "frog stomper" from mr. honkeymcniggerspic). EDIT-EDIT: I use Kraken as the exchange for obtaining crypto. Lower fees than coinbase. There are other exchanges that are decentralized.

not everyone wants their info out there when buying, selling or trading BTC. There are some options to get around the KYC mechanisms that the larger exchanges use (i.e. Coinbase)

First, use a VPN. Secondly, look into decentalized exchanges (DEX) or P2P platform exchanges which are built around privacy and utilize the TOR network (BISQ). Examples:

https://hodlhodl.com/
https://bisq.network/
https://agoradesk.com/ (allows for Monero trades)

when using these exchanges, check user reputations and use escrow services. You can also utilize mixer / tumbler services, but this takes ownership of your keys, so do so at your own risk.

I am still using Kraken myself and purely HODL BTC, but there are alternatives that keep you anonymous if you research

Yeah, I was only there for one semester myself. I had an older brother that was getting his masters at Hofstra in 87. I was a 17 yo high school drop out with a GED, wasn't even have supposed to have graduated high school as of yet, but he got me in there to start college courses. Before heading down to Long Island, I underestimated the amount of smoking hot NY chicks there are. Nassau was teeming with them

I lived in uniondale back in the mid 80's, lol (was going to Nassau Community College). I went through the same thing with my mother back in 2011. She sucked with money. Pissed through it all after her ex husband croaked. Her health was failing in her mid 70's because she sucked down a 5th of rotgut scotch every other day, for 50 years. I filled out the HUD paperwork and got her into a HUD-subsidized shoebox apartment, about a mile away from where I was living in MA. I then did her grocery shopping weekly, took her to doctor appointments, dentist, hearing aids, clothing stores, etc. Got over there and made her walk regularly. I took care of her for 10 years, right up until her health reached a point of daily care (her heart started to fail, ankles swelled up from lack of blood flow, wouldn't get off the couch). Then I got her into FOUR (4) different living care facilities because each one she resisted. it SUCKED. The paperwork, the people, dealing with the genesis health care administrators. Then, after I got her into the last one, covid shit happened. Restricted visiting hours, mandatory masks, plexiglass during visit between us, with 6' distance. They couldn't keep her hearing aids working. She understood none of it and the place and regulations surrounding covid basically rendered it a prison. She gave up on life and stopped even drinking water. She died a few months later. My heart goes out to you, it sucks. But iv'e been through it

Not to suggest that you reinvent the wheel, but maybe a decentralized hosting platform might be a viable way forward?

I have this feeling that there are extraterrestrial beings making themselves known at this time, and so the government is trying to flood the reported sightings with their own barrage of drones to confuse the masses, but there is an obvious difference between this object, and the swarms of relatively low-flying drones with red and green aviation lights blinking on them
