Feature Suggestions to Improve Flow and Usability
(IdeasForTalk)@system
-
Submission Queue / Post Scheduling – Similar to Tumblr’s queue system, this would let users space out their submissions or schedule posts for later. It prevents people from unintentionally spamming feeds and keeps things flowing naturally. (Also stops the occasional meltdown when someone “interrupts” another person’s posting streak.)
-
Cut & Paste Image Uploading – Allowing images to be pasted directly into the submission form, automatically hosting them (like how gvid.tv handles uploads), would eliminate the constant debate over “which image host is acceptable.” This keeps things native and smooth.
-
Markdown/Formatting Toolbar – For people who don’t live and breathe Markdown, a simple formatting toolbar (bold, italics, links, etc.) for posts and comments would make life easier. Plus, Markdown does not show up here the same way as reddit and other clones. If you cut and paste and try to share in more places, an upgoat version has to be completely reformatted. Mainly regarding the headers, but there are a handful of other minor differences.
-
Post Drafts & Short Editing Window w/ Preview – Ability to save a draft and come back to it later, plus a small grace period (2–5 minutes) after posting for quick edits. Great for catching typos or finishing thoughts without cluttering with re-posts.
-
Customizable Subverse Filters – Give users the option to temporarily mute or filter out certain subverses or keywords without blocking crybaby users. This gives people more control over their experience without nuking content completely.
-
Duplicate Warning - Give users a warning before they post a duplicate URL OR Title that is already in another subverse.
-
Vote Transparency - Being able to go to someone's profile and see what they upvoted or downvoted would be immensely helpful and even fun. If the crybabies hate this idea, at least GIVE PEOPLE THE OPTION to make THEIR OWN voting public. That way people could lead by example. If they wanted.
Rather than ban or limit people (and giving into the crybabies who need to touch grass sometimes), these options would eliminate all real or perceived justifications for the crybabies because they are always looking for reasons to cry, anyways. Don't let THEIR crying become a form of censorship.
Unless of course, they're paying you, then I understand completely.
