It has a heck of a crust! And it tastes fantastic!

2 3/4 Cups (350g) Organic Hard White Wheat
1 1/5 Cups (150g) Organic Hard Red Wheat
1 1/5 Cups (150g) Organic Khorasan Wheat
1 Cup (200g) Organic Sourdough Starter
1 1/2 Cups (350g) Water
1/4 Cup (2 oz. or 4 Tablespoons)(53g) Extra Virgin Olive Oil
1/4 Cup (2 oz. or 4 Tablespoons)(53g) Organic Honey
1/2 Tablespoon Rice Bran Extract (optional)
1 1/2 teaspoon Salt

450℉ for 15 minutes then reduced to 350℉ for another 15 minutes.

I should add; I let the starter rest on the counter ~8 hours before use.
The rise took about 6 hours, the proof took 2 hours.

Double Butter Sugar Cookie original content     (img.gvid.tv)

This recipe came about by accident. I used the full 2 sticks of butter for a full cup as if I were making the oatmeal cookies, but I was making chocolate chip cookies. So then all of my family told me that they like the extra butter better!

Extra butter it is! And on top of that, They were also saying the cookie itself was better than the chocolate. So here are the Double Butter Sugar Cookies!

Dry:
337g soft wheat flour (I really like using fresh milled White Sonora from Hayden Flour Mills)
1/4 tsp baking soda
3/4 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt

Wet:
1 cup of compacted brown sugar or approximately 206g
1/4 cup of cane sugar or other fine sugar
1 cup of butter
2 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract

@375℉ for 12-14 minutes

These I made today with Arizona Golden Durum flour from Hayden Flour Mills and they came out amazing and delicious!
I added chocolate chips to some to test the difference.
Without the chips is better in my opinion.

4th bloom of the summer. I've had it in a 3 gallon pot for a little over 20 years, and the bloom you see is at 9 feet above the ground. Have a second one in another 3 gallon pot, but that one fell over and broke into several pieces. Am rooting those pieces now. More info and photos about the san pedro cactus at this link.

If you saw my 'date sprouts' post a few months ago, am finally potting them today.

How it started: https://img.gvid.tv/i/2Hbp55o4.jpg

Today: https://img.gvid.tv/i/2JPegnGs.jpg & https://img.gvid.tv/i/3XDcYw4n.jpg

I have no place to grow date palms, so will guerilla garden them, or give them away. They're a random assortment of around 12 types of dates from Palm Springs, CA.

A look inside my worm bin. Warning: rotting food - worms... original content     (img.gvid.tv)

This is the top tray that's almost full. Worms are 'Red Wigglers'. Rotting food is a mix of various veggies, with crushed eggshells from the duck eggs. If you look closely at the inside lower right, you'll see a baby worm that looks like a tiny white line.

These worms are good at turning your scraps into worm castings, which are a great soil enhancer for your garden. This 'colony' or whatever you call them is a little over 20 years old. The bin itself is a Can-O-Worms. (Random site for info and pics: https://unclejimswormfarm.com/maintaining-a-can-o-worms-worm-bin/)

You see some pill bugs on the right. Couple weeks ago they were overrunning the place, so I genocided 96% of them by sprinkling 1/4 inch of buggy flour over the whole inside, then misting until it was a gunky trap. They didn't avoid it and most ended up sinking into it like quicksand.

Sometimes people get Soldier Flies (maggots) in a worm bin, and I've had them in the past. They're great at composting too, but not that good in a worm bin, in my experience. They tend to make a gooey swamp-like mess, unlike the worms who leave aerated worm castings behind. See the link below for pics.

Red Wigglers "Eisenia fetida, known under various common names such as manure worm, redworm, brandling worm, panfish worm, trout worm, tiger worm, red wiggler worm, etc., is a species of earthworm adapted to decaying organic material. These worms thrive in rotting vegetation, compost, and manure."

Soldier Flies "The soldier flies are a family of flies. The family contains over 2,700 species in over 380 extant genera worldwide. Larvae are found in a wide array of locations, mostly in wetlands, damp places in soil, sod, under bark, in animal excrement, and in decaying organic matter. Adults are found near larval habitats."

https://urbanwormcompany.com/black-soldier-fly-larvae-pest-partner/

Recommended if you end up with food scraps and live in a place that doesn't freeze, or have a non-freezing garage you can put them in for the wintertime.

The house got gutted today. We were helpful over the years and toward the end and her family recognized that so the family offered us last picking. I also took a small tv and some shovels. A lot of people these days are simultaneously anti-horder and pro-consumer. So they want to take nothing from the prior generation. The new philosophy when someone passes is toss everything. Don't even look at it. I think differently. I think there are at least a handful of virtues in doing the opposite. I think practical goods are practical goods and shouldn't be thrown out. Some of you may also know that I am a work and spend minimalist due to my objections to our monetary system. If it means I can avoid buying something in the future even if I have the money to buy it then that much less spend is to me its own good. Third I think it is good to have items in your practical every day use from which you can remember people.. even beyond just your own family. I even think it is better to be something you use then something thrown in a book somewhere to confuse the next generation when you die and they clean out your stuff. For example that tv that I may turn into my computer monitor, I'll use it every day and can just remember that she existed, that she had a life. I don't have the same memories of her that a family member would have but I think that is at least something.

Throw out useless stuff. Don't throw out useful stuff. Don't we want a world with an in-scarcity of useful things. A lot of these things if built right can last multiple lifetimes. Then these items have stories too.

87.6 grams, 2.5 x 2 inches. Ducks molt over the winter and lay fewer eggs. Not enough to make it to my closest farmers market, but they're back now.

This was the largest in the dozen large eggs, which go for $15. It's only $12 for the smaller duck eggs. Anyway, pretty tasty. Give them a try if you can get them.

These are a few months old, and around 12 or 15 different types of dates. I have no room for palm trees, so am thinking of gorilla gardening around a nearby lagoon.

Still have another 2.5 pounds of seeds (more than a packed quart ziplock) if I can find a place for these. Salad, maybe?
