I was using it because the phone company's native DNS service was giving me issues at some point in the past, I hadn't bothered switching it back since.
Turning on my vpn also fixes the issue but I ain't geeky enough to know if that's normal or anything.
Makes sense, the archive.xx guy is an asshole who takes his frustrations out on his userbase, ie blocking Brave users because of a personal issue with the company.
I've had folks tell me that Norton AV and the like have flagged archive.xx links as security risks before, which totally makes sense from the point of view that viewers of archived articles may risk viewing material that deviates from the Mockingbird media narrative.
Other than that, the only issue I occasionally encounter with archive.xx links are the captcha challenges.
I've had good results switching between different TLDs when one doesn't work. No idea why, but archive.ph/xyz will often work when archive.is/xyz doesn't and vice-versa
