There's burial mounds all over the Mississippi valley that are completely off limits to archeology, some more than 15000 years old. Why are their graves sacred and white European graves curiosities?
Our house is built on what was actually part of the cemetery behind us. Official records only go back so far, as this land changed hands from Spaniards to Americans over time and people fenced off roads and declared them private property... which was probably not such a big deal at the time, since they had no neighbors for miles in almost any direction [as it should be].
Pretty sure if I ever get around to digging the cellar a little deeper so there's enough head room for normal humans down there, I'll find some weird 'artifacts'. Hopefully a buried treasure!
