The sad part about this is the amount of thots who think "that could be me" and sign up. Then they end up jaded and used and all for the equivalent of a minimum wage income. A mcjob would be better for most of them.
You're getting closer. You hit on commodities for the right reason, influence. Influence is far more valuable than any trinkets and baubles. People that hoard like misers don't understand that. When you start dealing in the currency of influence, you'll realize you don't need much of anything else-- at least not all the time.
Can't remember the date, but what I do remember is how goddamn difficult it was to xfer into fiat.
It's a lot easier now, but all the major exchanges require you to identify yourself for tax purposes.
Then how damn difficult it was to have in my possession.
Like physical money i can hold, I can feel it. You never do with crypto. Even the cold storage wallets you just have the keys, maybe I am wrong, but from my understanding you never hold even that part of the block chain that says this is yours...it is always in some digital wallet.
That's not quite how it works. The idea is that instead of a bank having a book with some numbers in it saying you have a thousand bucks, there's a bunch of strangers all have copies of the book. So you never actually hold the crypto, not even in a wallet, you just hold a password allowing you to transfer numbers to someone else in the book.
Which honestly isn't too different to how banking works nowadays. Most people don't ever touch even a percent of their earnings as physical cash anymore.
I dont trust that aspect. As I can defend myself if say someone tries to steal my shit, or I can often time give a description of the person who robbed me....someone jacks it on the web.
Do you mean if someone steals your private keys? Those are fairly easy to secure. Easiest way to do it is to get a letter punch set and punch them out on an A8 sheet of aluminium (credit card sized). That's very easy to hide and retrieve.
If you mean online? If you transfer your crypto it's gone. It's like giving cash to a stranger. You have zero way to retrieve it, which is both a weakness and a strength.
Plus how did the fbi recover millions from that pipeline crypto ransom last year?
Not sure, but I'm going to guess they had some other leads and found the guys, then made them give it back. I doubt they breached the encryption itself: Cryptocurrencies use the same encryption systems banks and militaries do. If they were broken everyone would know and everything would fall apart fast.
I just don't understand how people want to give up a power so great than physical currency.
It's hard to transfer gold or silver across continents safely and reliably. I think (hope) precious metals will start to gain a comeback in local economies though. I can see both coexisting nicely.
I saw how the IRS is now urging you to do the facial recognition to access your tax returns. Not to check the status but say like 1099 without LLC, and how you have to monitor your shit all the time?
I see this as bad, but that is the shine off my tin foil hat.
Oh it totally is. They do the same thing with bank accounts and CAF makes it impossible to trust cash for large purchases anymore. You're supposed to report that too btw, and if you don't then you might lose it.
With crypto it's still possible to buy and sell anonymously, it's just riskier and more expensive, but that's life I guess.
Ok, but why can't I just use something like a jump drive instead of a phone to do it?
Yes. You can store crypto on a USB key, it's just more fragile than aluminium or steel.
I likely just don't really grasp is as back when I did have it, shit just pissed me off with how fucking hard it was to xfer.
What problems were you encountering? For me the process of accessing a cold wallet would be:
- Install exodus
- Enter my 12 words (like a hashed version of the private key)
- Wait for it to access the blockchain and update
- Transfer whatever to whatever address
- Uninstall exodus again and put the key back
Obviously if you want to use it for day to day purposes you'd just keep exodus installed
True, but i can always go to a bank and get my money...maybe not all of it, but I can still always access it, even if say shit happened?
Civil asset forfeiture. They can grab any cash you have at any time and require you to prove you to prove you obtained it through lawful means, which can take years and thousands of dollars.
It was all the steps. As for how it was difficult. It was back when coinbase (where I was recommended to make my wallet)
At that time coinbase shut off the ability to xfer into PayPal, and to get around this you had to buy secondlife sol, then sell that sol back to transfer into your wallet.
If wasn't overly expensive but it wasn't cheap either. Couldn't get anyone to accept payments in btc for my bills at the time, and no other way to get fiat at the time either.
Ah! Ok. Yeah things are a lot smoother nowadays. I use bitcoin.de which I can buy and sell crypto straight to my bank account. Most exchanges have some kind of facility for that now.
Incidentally an exchange isn't a wallet as such, they're more like a bank or payment processor that holds your crypto for you to facilitate trading. Wallets are something you yourself control and no one else can take from you (unless they get your private keys).
More recently a thing called "defi" has cropped up which potentially allows you to trade without an exchange, but they haven't gotten to the point where you can get cash in your account. The best you can do with defi is trade for a stablecoin like USD-Tether, then trade that for actual USD somehow.
Rome had the same problem. Women were allowed to inherit property after their husbands death. Rince and repeat war after war they eventually owned everything.
Sparta too. Property accumulated into female lines until they were the power brokers behind every deal. Sparta went from being the sine qua non superpower of the eastern med to being a historical curiosity.
3314 words in that article, about a mother of three who decided to whore herself. It's mostly pushing crypto currency though, and trying to make wahmen feel "empowered".
