The story I heard - might not be fully true - is thatGermany started out bombing the military infrastructure only, and was getting close to eliminating England's early warning radar.
Then someone (I heard German side) got lost/had to jettison payload and bombed civilians. Then the other side retaliated on a city, and the civilian bombings began. If the targets were kept strictly military, I believe Germany would have been in way better shape long term.

The fact that electricity is still on is pretty amazing, as that is one of the first things that happens in war - bombing of critical infrastructure.
If it were a war, he would only be able to post until he was killed or the power went out.
Even cell towers have a limited backup power system onsite.
