$17,500? I had a quote for $15,000 for new carpet in my house. A new fence was quoted at $18,000. Sucks losing money but $17,500 isn't that much money. If you were going to play the jew game why didn't you just invest it in stocks and babysit it everyday, selling at the slightest hint of a downturn.

I have lost everything, and I'm not sure how to continue. This summer I invested $17,500 (six months salary and my entire life savings) into ornamental gourd futures, hoping to capitalize on this lucrative emerging industry. After watching a video about Vincent Kosuga and his monopoly on onions, I decided I'd try to do something similar with another vegetable. I did some research and found out many agricultural forecasters expected this year's gourd yield would be far smaller than the past, due to deteriorating soil conditions in central Mexico and a warmer-than-average spring. At first, demand soared around Halloween and prices skyrocketed, but the gourd bubble burst on November 12th. Unfortunately, the coronavirus caused a massive drop-off in demand due to fewer families decorating their tables for thanksgiving, and prices plummeted. I had invested early enough that I thought I would still be fine, but then on the morning of December 2nd, a new email in my inbox caused my stomach to turn into a pretzel. The massive gourd shipment from Argentina, scheduled for early March, had arrived. I was planning on selling off my futures right before this, in February, but this ruined everything. To top it off, the gourds in this shipment were absolutely gargantuan, some topping 4 pounds each, causing the price-per-pound to drop like an anchor into the range of 6 cents per pound. I am ruined.

If we knew each other in person, I would have warned you against such a reckless action months ago. Food futures are all coming due in July, and there's going to be pain. My mentor saw this coming a mile away and warned me against taking any stocks or plans in that direction. I owe him a great deal.

I don't seek to deride, I seek to encourage. In the hope that my words do reach you, I want you to know that this is not the end, but merely the opening of a new beginning. I lost more than 900K when Bitcoin crashed in 2018 from 20K to 4K. I thought my life was over. I had to suffer through some of the most embarrassing conversations that I'd ever had with family that I had told to suck my dick. Even despite my pride earlier, some of them were willing to help, through whatever meager means that they could offer. Through it all, I realized a new humility that I would have never experienced in any other situation. The part of me that was egotistical and prideful is dead and buried; I even gave him a mock funeral and buried a box filled with memories as proof.

Every "failure" is only a personal setback perceived as a mountain through the upfront lens of time. Time will go on, should you choose to continue your path, and you'll find more solace reaching out to others to help you understand yourself better. My best advice for you would be to do some really deep soul searching. Figure yourself out; what caused this mess and how you can change yourself to avoid this EVER happening again. And keep talking to people. This is not the time to shut down and be depressed; it's the best time in the world for you to open up to others. Seeing real pain changes others. Don't fear vulnerability; fear being unreasonably prideful.

And above all, renew your vows to God. I did. I'm starting a new business venture soon, and I already have dozens of phone calls a day from people who tell me that they are already assured that I will be successful.

TL:DR. Don't be depressed. BE GLAD. You're now much better off, because you've been handed a tool to communicate real emotion better than many other people can. Use it to build, not break yourself internally. Godspeed, and God Bless.
