Kinda like the 1st phase was Investing Kiev in a feint to split and hold Ukraine Forces away from the East to accomplish territorial gain and troop supremacy in Donbas and Lugansk as well as the entire Eastern flank to Crimea.
2nd phase began after withdraw from Kiev and re-positioning consolidation of Forces in the East.
Now it's simply ground and pound attrition after expending cold war era equipment to soak up expensive stocks of NATO armaments in 1st and 2nd phases..
