I don't get the obsession with The Queen's death in mass media

I don't get the obsession with The Queen's death in mass media. Since her death i see a big part of news world wide talking only about her. I mean, I can understand UK mass media, since only the brits care about her, but why all the other mass media are dedicating huge amount of time talking relentlessly about her?

It's not like she did something exceptional. Monarchy is pretty useless institution.

She was only head of state for 15 countries. She was also head of the commonwealth but most commonwealth countries have their own heads of state.

I'm honestly surprised there hasn't been more.

There aren't too many king/queen governments left in the world. Those are interesting studies in political systems. The royal family there has been subjected to exquisite PR control measures to ensure their popularity.

Add to this the very fine points some other people are bringing up and you have a news event.
