I play at lurking through the week. Weekend is when I usually log in. Lurking gives me an idea of posts, and if any are screaming for my wondrous words of wisdom...or needing a lil research attention. Since I'm mostly using Linux LiveCD when here (I suspect it makes it a bit harder for the ISP to snoop), I have no access to XP Pro which holds most of my research. This takes a bit of planning to coordinate.

I lurk because it is too much of a bother to log in and I share stuff elsewhere first usually.( most often from here and consume product).

It is just a habit thing. Posting here you get lots of comments vs smaller channels so I only post on places like this when I find something really juicy or when I am not working and have lots of time.
