You know I think since Most states have these laws it would actually be an interesting case to take the Supreme Court on sex discrimination basis. Because it's clearly an unequal application in law based on sex. A woman can simply report that she does not want her child and expect the state to take complete responsibility for it and she does not have to make any financial contributions to that child life. But a man cannot do the same thing. It's clearly unequal based on sex. I think this would be a very interesting Supreme Court case and it would be hard for the Supreme Court to justify the existence of these two situations simultaneously.

In fact now that I think of it if someone came up to you and said that some baby was your child and you physically had it in your hand and you drove to one of these places and you put that baby in the box and said you didn't want it it would be very difficult for the state to be able to claim that you had a responsibility to raise that child or pay for its raising. And it's unclear whether the woman would even be able to find the child and claim it and therefore have a child to make a claim against you for child care. Cuz I think those laws are designed and those systems are designed so that once a child is abandoned then it can't be traced back to a mother so it shouldn't be able to be traced back to the father either.

Course I'm not saying any of this is morally right no competent man would want a child of his to be raised by the state but it is an interesting thought.
