What is the Flattist explanation for mountains casting their shadow upwards during sunset?

The clouds are also clearly casting shadows on themselves at an upward angle. This can be observed anywhere on Earth, in case you don't have suitable mountains around.

You can recreate this phenomenon at home all you need is a knife and a lemon.

First you cut off your dick. Then you squeeze lemon juice on the cut.

Your globetard friends will be amazed!

I like how promoting and refuting flat earth is actually a thing people do over here unironically.

It's reflecting off swamp gas which is being reflected by weather balloons.

It's very simple...it's an optical illusion resulting from an extended episode of transitory depersonalization, these episodes are directly proportional to the quantity of LSD that one has consumed

I'm a big ball earther, but the most used FE models I see have the sun going in circles while bobbing up and down and therefore would be below the clouds and mountains at a distance, so it's fairly simple and would work with no issue.

Stupid flattards. We're on a ball flying through space at hundreds of miles per hour and nothing matters and everything happens accidentally.

You can also just stay with the sunset for a long time in a jet. Or go the other way and see the really trippy sight of sudden night with a cool quickly changing gradient from blue sky to stars.

Flatters are entertaining and commonly anti-kike. I don't know what the relationship is between being antisemitic and being a flat earther, but I'm ok with it.

Flattards are what happens when you don't have a eugenics program to cull off the mentally ill and profanely stupid.

"free thinkers" says the ones regurgitating what authority deems is "Science" when it is pseudo-science.

Why don't you cowards perform some actual scientific experiments for a change instead of being sheep.

Are you suggesting that the Sun doesn't not go below the horizon along the solar path of the firmament?

Or are you claiming that FE'ers believe that since the "Earth is flat", mountains don't exist, because every part of Earth has to be mirror-flat?

Depending on which hypothesis of Earth-Sun movements and FE you tend to believe most accurate, it could be refraction through the waters of the firmament, or it could be a reflection of light off the ice walls that surround the Earth, or it could be that the Sun went below the disc of Earth and the light shines upward from just below the rim (because light goes around corners) and you are seeing that.

I'm suggesting that, in order to cast a shadow upward, the light source must be below the object casting the shadow.

Most of the "modern" FE models seem to have the Sun zooming around in circles, high above the clouds. So how could the Sun be below the mountain?

The discworld model would require night and day to be almost simultaneous everywhere, so I'm pretty sure that one was abandoned long ago (surely, right?). Ice wall reflections wouldn't work either, since the reflected light rays would still be at a downward angle. Of course, nothing can defend against magical light rays that always bend just right to create an illusion of a spheroid world in order to fool us.

magical light rays that always bend just right

You realize that light is not a wave or a ray, right? Nor is it a particle.

But it IS nice to know that if I turn a light on in one room, I will be in 100% darkness in the next room over, because light doesn't go around corners or move in any way but a straight line. Interesting how your "science" is supposed to use expereintial evidence, yet even with experimental evidence that light goes around corners, you claim it is "magic."

But it IS interesting that you consider observable evidence as "magic", yet keeping water on a spinning ball, which cannot be observed anywhere, is "science".

Most of the "modern" FE models seem to have the Sun zooming around in circles, high above the clouds

Non sequitur and a logical fallacy. Here is your logic: 'X' is false, because 'Y' is similar to 'X', but more popular than 'X'. 'Y' is false. Therefore, 'X' is False. Instead of claiming "well THESE FE models are bad", why don't you address what was actually said?

[ - ] GloryBeckons [op] 0 points 2 yearsApr 9, 2023 15:44:54 ago (+1/-1)

The non-sequitur is on your end; I never implied any such thing. I merely addressed the most common model first, since you seemed confused about my question. Then I addressed the other options you mentioned, one by one.

If you want me to address something specific, then you'll have to actually say something specific. Instead, you're being vague and evasive. For someone who is so sure about how things don't work, you seem to have a lot of trouble describing how you think they do work.

Shadows am flat?

[ - ] big_fat_dangus 1 point 2 yearsApr 9, 2023 11:42:50 ago (+3/-2)

NASA secretly used bulldozers at night to build all the earth's mountains, so you would see these shadows and think the earth is round! DONT'T FALL FOR THIER LIEEEEES!!!

[ - ] FreeinTX 2 points 2 yearsApr 9, 2023 11:38:38 ago (+3/-1)

Your link doesn't work, ya fuckin' retard.

The earth is provably a sphere.

[ - ] GloryBeckons [op] 0 points 2 yearsApr 9, 2023 11:43:55 ago (+2/-2)

Works for me, but try any of these instead:

Earth is actually an oblate spheroid, if you want to be technical. But I'm asking for the explanation provided by the Flatism cult.

[ - ] FreeinTX 2 points 2 yearsApr 9, 2023 11:46:27 ago (+2/-0)

Only the catbox link worked.

And sorry for the jump to conclusion.

[ - ] Sector7 1 point 2 yearsApr 9, 2023 12:37:42 ago (+1/-0)

Gvid and catbox links work. Pomf2 does not.

Flatters can be funny when they're credibly true believers. However, most are familiar with the holes in their claims and just move on if you bring those up.

[ - ] GloryBeckons [op] 0 points 2 yearsApr 9, 2023 12:58:10 ago (+0/-0)

The pomf one is actually from gvid. I think it cycles through different sources, so you might get a different one at random.

Catbox is blocking Tor, even for just viewing files rather than uploading, which is sus, since the only reason to do that is to track people. So I'm looking for alternatives. Gvid admin is a user here, so I was hopeful, but it looks like it doesn't work well for everyone.
