There are (at the extremes) 2 kinds of high school graduates.

Type 1 graduates top of their class, has at least an Associates Degree from AP and Dual Credit, holds certifications (maybe Nursing Assistant, maybe IT Security+, but something) and has been working (let's say 2 years at first job in fast food.)

Type 2 graduates are in the 3rd or 4th quarter of their class, have no college, no certifications, and no work experience. Their mom is their reference.

Don't be Type 2. Don't let your kids be Type 2. Don't let your friends kids be Type 2.

One of my nephews had all of that and dropped it all for a girl. Drugs were involved and nobody has heard from him since.

For the current generation of high school grads, not much. My generation saw it all slowly be taken away from us. supposedly, due to budget cuts, or other such nonsense.
