Putin is hugely popular and is destroying the US and NATO on their border. Literally bleeding us dry as the US loses world hegemony and the status as world reserve currency. The sanctions imposed, at their peak, led to a 2% decline in Russian GDP, and Russia is now in recovery. Even Ukraine is buying Russian deisle in violation of the sanctions.
