Why the hell 4chan locks threads?

I have noticed that 4chan locks threads after some time, so nobody can reply. This is not a free speech site. This is bullshit.

I have been on v and opened like 6 threads in other tabs and when I went to read them all of them were pruned or deleted. What sucks is there are rarely organic posts (posts that are not poorly disguised advertisements) and they seem to lock and prune the good ones
