Because when my parents were my age, they could afford a 5 bedroom house, 2 cars, 3 kids, 2 vacations per year, groceries were ~$250/month for 5 people.
And that was do able on enlisted military income.
Today the state can take your kids away for anything from discipling them to teaching them there are only 2 sexes.
Also I think most men don't want to have kids with a slut/whore. Which is increasingly commonplace. I'd be lucky at my age if I could enter a relationship where I wouldn't be raising someone else's kids as a "package deal".

Lol, it wasn't quite like that. They bought a two story fixer upper and used the rent to pay a large part of the mortgauge. But that was with 3 little kids already. We eventually had two cars but they were always clunkers. Food was not an issue because my mom would cook, but we never went out to eat let alone on vacation.
The point is that none of that bullshit makes a baby. If you are not having kids because you don't have those things it is because you are fucked in the head. Or rather you made bad choices and now are looking to blame everyone and everything except yourself.
Ok, that's a bit harsh. I agree that poverty is a huge stressor and that derails your motivation, focus, and capacity to take risks. I agree that not affording to date, or impress girls is a huge hurdle. But you can't outright blame poverty for childlessness because higher poverty leads to higher birthrates. Your relative poverty compared to your sexual competition is the problem, for you.
I was kind of parroting what I hear others in my age group say. But I do agree with them.
I already have one kid. Hopefully I will have more, we'll see what happens. Im not struggling financially, but I've been there, even as a parent. My point was it's irresponsible to bring children into this world if you cannot support yourself. And it was much easier for The average person to do that in the past. People could work at the grocery store and raise kids with a stay at home wife.
Today, if I were working at the local grocery store, I doubt I could afford to rent an appartment for myself, let alone buy a house.
