For the purposes of that comment, it's where your hand writes automatically, without 'you' being conscious of what's written.

I think it's usually a thing where the person is at least claiming to channel "other entities", like ghosts, spirits, or whatever. Lots of fringe books out there supposedly come from those spirits.
