Find less-gay things for him to watch. A small laptop or something with pre-downloaded shows from older times that are less jewy would do. Hook it to the tv and just have VLC auto-play the entire folder of show XYZ.

This makes it already there, super easy for him, and distracts him from the gay. Like training a dog, the same principles apply here. And yes, humans can absolutely be trained.
