How I let my temper reveal my whole dark side at the new job (while thinking i was being very reasonable)

What happened to me was definitely disrespectful nobody debated that.

First I think when I see that guy tomorrow we are going to have a private conversation

Then I think this can't wait till tomorrow. I'm not thinking about this for 24 hours

My only mode of communication is the mass text that goes to everybody

Okay here I go I'm going to send a text to everybody

I know I replaced a black guy but I am definitely not your nigger

Okay now that I got that out of my system delete and start over. Im a reasonable man. Such a reasonable guy. Okay here goes reasonable

Proceed to send what i thought was reasonable but come off very combative.

I immediately get called into the office to explain everything. Start to explain the incident. All of a sudden out comes my Jersey accent which is a South Jersey accent which if you've never heard one is very crazy. I usually suppress it. Im probably sneering and lifting my lip like elvis and theyre probably like who is this guy all the sudden.

Within only a few minutes everyone knows I'm an asshole and the bosses met a whole new guy that never comes out until i feel disrespected.

Yeah, given that "you become like the people you spend the most time with", contact with niggers in any real life capacity will contaminate you. Movies and videos might not be quite as infectious, but there's still some cultural transference occuring.

I had to send a second soothing mass text. That took talent. With my immediate crew and boss i kind of made myself understood by the end of the day. But it set the timer huh. Probably a month or so but i only wanted to last 3 months.

If you do have the experience and the expertise then you should be able to power move your experience to make changes in your department but if you're just there to do a certain task nobody is going to care and you will be removed.

I completely understand how you feel -- I myself have a temper that I keep in check with a great deal of self-control, and it always embarrasses me when I let it out. I also understand the dilemma of not wanting to stew on it overnight and wanting the immediate gratification of getting it over with, but it's always a mistake to take it public. That should have been dealt with privately the next day.

But hey, that's me and my personality. It's all how you manage the fallout. It looks for now you're over the worst of it.
