Its hard. For me, Metroid NES 1986. It was the first game of its kind and the music is amazing. I love everything about it. I still playit at least once a year.

We used to sneak a 6" black & white mini TV at sleepovers and play it for hours into the night. That game was so weird when it came out, and the secrets hidden in the walls were so badass. You never knew what would open up with some bombing or examination.

dunno who downvoated you, XCom is Turn Based. Always was. Go back even further i can remember playing Space Hulk on my mates Amiga which i remember being pretty cool if not a pain in the ass. Dont think i ever had the patience for the whole base sim stuff but i do like it. If games like that dont let me automate stuff so i can focus on something else and not penalise me for it somehow i go to shit.

well, It blends real time strategy combat with world exploration and sandbox gameplay. It may not be accurate to call it a trad RTS game. You may be right there. Don't know who downvoted you.

First time I went from pc speaker blips and bloops to a sounblaster with a full orchestral musical background, the theme song is now bouncing around my head. Had same thing happen with 'Indianapolis 500'that came with the sound card, first or second racing sim where you were on a full track rather than an Arcade racer just moving left and right, and full screaming engine noises instead of random droning and 'EHEHEHEHEHEHEHEH' for 'turning/tyre squeal'

Age of Empires 2 right up there too.

Maybe Ultima IV: Quest of the Avatar. It was a tile-based RPG in the 80s. Your goal was to become pure and without sin, yet it let you do all the typical evil things that even modern games allow and even promote. But if you do standard rotten things such as looting villagers' homes, you lose various virtues. It was a really enjoyable but moral game.

Humility was one virtue. Some asshole NPC asked me, "Are you the most humble man?" I was young and figured to maintain my honesty virtue, I should say, "Yes." Ennngghhh. Wrong answer. I lost my humility virtue.

I lost a summer of my youth on Morrowind.

I remember there was a dark mountain I was trekking towards. And there were some flying fuckers there. And they were hard to kill. I probably didn't get very far it might have been my first rpg.

Cliff Racers were the bane to many a MW player. There are ways to counter them but you need to get creative.

Never got around to playing though Freelancer. It's a bit similar to the X series, right?
