Fentanyl Overdose of a Family Friend

This was an arguably intelligent fellow unfortunately caught up in a life of heroin addiction. Formally trained as a mechanical engineer. For decades, this slum life worked for him.

They found him lifeless with two spent injections of Narcon. He knew he was overdosing and perhaps also knew he was poisoned. This was a handsome white man with a life hindered by a lifetime degenerate behavior. He very easily could have done so much more with his life.

Say no to drugs, my niggerfaggot friends.

I don't really believe in addiction, due to my own experiences. Have tried some drugs reputed to be addictive, and found it wasn't the case.

Although I did just have another cup of tea... (a loose leaf ripe pu-erh from burlang mountain) I know I could switch to cups of hot water, but the flavor just isn't there.

Have mostly eliminated sugar, which is the worst addictive drug. Most substances we ingest or consume change our physical or mental state, even if they're not technically "drugs".

Addiction isn’t binary ( addicted/not addicted), its a continuum. Some people are more prone to extreme addcictive behavior to one or more addictions. These pre-dispositions are genetic. You may not have a strong predisposal toward extreme addiictive behavior. But if you are regularly expending time and resources toward activities which are designed to induce a pleasurable or otherwise stimulating mood, I think its addiction, even if you aren’t at risk of killing yourself, spending all your money or destroying your social relationships. Even if your desire to use these drugs aren’t an all encompassing obsession. Logically it makes no sense to use them. You like how a plant makes you feel even though it does nothing to improve your well being. Thats a problem.

I'm about to cook and eat two strips of bacon (new and better brand) and two eggs, to induce a pleasurable mood and physical sensation, as I regularly do. I'll likely be adding hot peppers (shallots, a habanero, and a huge aji amarillo) and some fungus (lions mane) to enhance both.

Also having a few cups of tea, for the second plant effect. I'll probably do some watering this afternoon because watching and growing the plants has a strongly positive effect on my well being.

I'm fine with all of my above addictions because they're a net positive on my experience of being alive. My other addictions balance a slight health negative with a positive mood enhancement, which is also fine. Wait, what's all this fire around me?

You like how a plant makes you feel even though it does nothing to improve your well being.

That would be silly of me. It's my belief that the plants, fungus, and bacteria I use are a net positive for my well being.

That's the thing about people and addiction. Use of food is both fine and necessary. Abuse of food has resulted in obesity levels of 40.3% in US adults, with 9.4% having severe obesity.

Those people would likely have trouble using drugs too.

They're cited as 2021 to 2023 numbers. They're going to vary a lot in different regions. I moved to California almost 45 years ago, and was taken aback at how few fat people I saw.

Heroine, actual opium, is on my bucket list. I'm saving the experience for if I get diagnosed with cancer or an untreatable illness. Everyone who has tried it that I've asked about it says it's the best feeling in the world. So, while it is unfortunate that another one out of millions of annual overdoses happened to someone close to your family, he made a choice to try drugs and continue using drugs, he should have known the risks of addiction and overdose. Especially nowadays when fentanyl might be mixed in with other drugs. I stick to alcohol and legal weed, but one day, if I'm "lucky" enough to live long enough to be diagnosed with an excuse to give up on living more than a year, I will be spending all my money on heroin and will likely overdose on purpose.

Drugs are slavery. We are biologically not evolved to resist them. They are designed to mess with our normal brain function and make you believe that drugs are our friend and we can’t live without them.

Parasites produce drugs to live off of society without performing work. Drug use is pro-parasite.

Drugs are a misallocation of society’s resources. Think of how much more wealth we would have if humans stopped wasting their time on drugs. Including the resources spent on an army of cops to police them.

Theres an easy way to decrease the burden of drugs on society. Increase severity of sentencing.

You could argue just as easily that men parasitize women. . I think you can abstractly view males and females as separate species with a symbiotic relationship which sometimes seems particularly exploitive in one direction or another. Females do seem to be the primordial base case of the two genders. Males are often superfluous except for insemination purposes. Females have the higher resource investment in reproduction.
