Have a new TV and stereo system showing up next week

Since we remodeled everything on the interior and are almost complete with new furnishings, the wife thought we ought to get a new TV. While we don’t watch “TV”, we do watch movies we stream or dvds we own. I don’t really care about any of it, but she insisted.

So, we have a 55” Samsung Frame coming (wife hates the look of a tv screen) and some piece of furniture to set it on. Can’t feasibly do a wall mount, so a stand it is. I’m ok with my old stereo stuff, which totally rocks, but it’s prior to blue tooth so it won’t work for stuff coming off the iPad. We don’t have internet or WiFi where we live, so blue tooth it is.

Due to all of this, we’re ending up with a new Denon 7.0 receiver and Martin Logan speakers and sub. 5 speaker towers for the front channels and bookshelf for the rear. The rear bookshelves will sit on pedestals and are blue tooth because running wire in this house is a cunt.
Shit should be off the hook for watching Tombstone and listening to Black Sabbath!

I idiotically let a neighbor have mine a few moves ago. I got some used crap ones, but they sound terrible so we just never use my nice stereo system anymore.

You probably already know there's all kinds of adapters for bluetooth input to old stereos. Less than $50.

Honestly, this trait almost made me hate women.
They crave that brainwave state.

I used to catch shit for my computer usage, and I cared about that too, until I realized that the only thing I was failing to do was watch television with her. I still did everything else, but I had no time for daily TV viewing, which for the woman, was apparently the entire purpose of life.

Now I know I need to chase women who dont care about TV, unfortunately most of those are not intellectuals, but party whores.

What I like about Blu-Ray is you can get 3840 x 2160 scans of the original film. Hopefully, even with the compression of blu-ray, you’re getting as close to the original film recordings as possible with the film grain and all.

One day I’d love to have remastered versions of Robocop and Total Recall. If I ever buy a blu-ray player.

Can confirm Robocop remastered in 4k is fucking excellent. Arrow video does some good work but their QA can be a little suspect especially when they're charging $50 for a single movie.

Frames are fun. We have 3 of them throughout the house, my office has one which is just used for art, and once every 3 months or so I cast something to it. The living room is similar to yours. It's nice being able to rock out. I guess I'm younger with black metal like Dimmu Borgir and northern viking music like heilung and warundra.

how are you going to run the speaker wire?

are you mounting the tv above the fireblock and creating an indented thinger for the power?

do you have a fireblock to concern with in that regard?

are you going to run speaker wire through the wall? will the speakers be cieling/wall/floor/stand mounted?

are you going to have a wall plate and if so which connectors will you use for audio wire

Tv is on a stand on top of a tv stand, can’t wall mount due to concrete walls.
Power is right behind the tv stand and all the front, and center channel stuff along with the sub, will just have wire along the baseboard, mostly hidden by furniture. The rears will be on stands across the room and will operate via Bluetooth. Should Bluetooth become unreliable, I can wire under the house and come up through the floor. I could also ceiling hang them with a bit more work.
It’s a complicated house to work on, believe me.

I have a couple of these coming next week ( https://www.pecron.com/products/pecron-e3600lfp-portable-power-station-3600w-3072wh )with a 240v hub to tie into my gentran switch. If the power goes out during a blizzard here in NH, I won't have to leave my front door to get the generator out of the shed, but I can just stay warm and comfortable in the house, hook two of these bad larrys together with the 240V hub and hit the switch breakers. Then walk back to the chair next to the wood stove, so I can look out the window and watch my douchey neighbor struggle with his generator

I considered it. The space is prohibitive and along with the cost, of good stuff, it was a no-go. It was my first choice, but I’m more into sound than video. Occasional movie, mostly music.
