Why are my plastics breaking????

submitted by Kozel to AskUpgoat 4 monthsDec 28, 2024 18:44:57 ago (+18/-0)     (AskUpgoat)

First went my ryobi stick vacuum. Clicked to open the canister and the button broke. Both buttons. Just snapped straight across. I didn't click it wrong or hard or anything it just failed. A few days later, I look at my mouthwash cap and its also cracked and protruding. Must have cracked when I closed it from the thread pushing into the cap. Haven't seen indoor temps go below 59F. What gives?

Don’t need mouthwash.

Much in the way people don’t realize salt is incredibly healthy and necessary for life, the mouth has its own biome of microbes which are controlled by diet.

That’s not to say a swig of mouthwash isn’t nice before going on a date or to help get the taste of dabauchery out of your mouth.

"debauchery"? You mean "Marlboro's"?

[ - ] registereduser 1 point 4 monthsDec 28, 2024 18:58:16 ago (+3/-2)

Smokes are not debauchery, cheap whiskey is debauchery.

Ouch!

[ - ] Kozel [op] 4 points 4 monthsDec 28, 2024 20:37:23 ago (+4/-0)

I like to use mouthwash after I do a very thorough flossing.

Its some natural fancy mouthwash with organic ingredients.

[ - ] VitaminSieg 5 points 4 monthsDec 28, 2024 20:48:25 ago (+5/-0)

Your gut flora begins in your mouth. Don't use mouthwash.

salt is not gonna do shit

[ - ] DitchPig 0 points 4 monthsDec 29, 2024 10:44:18 ago (+1/-1)

I make my own mouth rinse with pickling salt, and xylitol.

[ - ] lolxd 4 points 4 monthsDec 28, 2024 19:06:04 ago (+4/-0)

The cheaper glass infused plastic they use for some shit will start cracking at extremely low humidity.

[ - ] RevengeOfNeri 11 points 4 monthsDec 28, 2024 19:06:28 ago (+11/-0)

Biggest problem with Chinese made crap is they dont stabilize their plastics against UV exposure. This makes them go brittle rapidly even from low indoor exposure. Chinese rubber is even worse.

[ - ] GetWoke 2 points 4 monthsDec 28, 2024 23:15:49 ago (+2/-0)

Why does Chinese rubber smell like asphalt? All the time?

[ - ] KyleIsThisTall 1 point 4 monthsDec 29, 2024 09:57:44 ago (+1/-0)

All the solvents and other chemicals used in low cost production.

[ - ] RevengeOfNeri 1 point 4 monthsDec 29, 2024 16:01:49 ago (+1/-0)

My friend in the business said they dont cure it properly. Chinese rubber is almost worse than chinese plastic, leave it folded slightly and the shit will split in no time.

Thanks for reminder not to get ryobi

[ - ] MasklessTheGreat 2 points 4 monthsDec 28, 2024 20:22:17 ago (+2/-0)

Fuckin OP doesn’t know shit about power tools. I’d never admit on an anon thread that I own a ryobi piece of shit.

[ - ] Clueless_Enigma 2 points 4 monthsDec 28, 2024 20:43:55 ago (+2/-0)

Note that he didn't claim he does not own Cryobi shite, just that he'd never admit to it.

[ - ] Kozel [op] 0 points 4 monthsDec 28, 2024 20:46:33 ago (+1/-1)

I bought a bunch of ryobi tools on blowout sales that arrived in huge TTI boxes, kept one of each for myself and flipped the rest. Bought this vac because I already had a ton of batteries. Should have gotten the $60 amazon one instead.

What you're thinking is the typical retard like yourself who walks into home depot buys the shit from the shelf and gets fucked regardless of what brand they buy.

Btw you know who TTI is? They're an Israeli company. They make Milwaukee, HART, and Ryobi. Its all the same shit with a different brand. So go brandfag somewhere else normie shitter.

[ - ] MasklessTheGreat 0 points 4 monthsDec 28, 2024 21:14:19 ago (+1/-1)

I don’t give a fuck what you did. You bought and used a shit tool and are bitching about. Ryobi has been Harbor Freight tier shit since I was in high school. You can’t bitch when you gamble on shit.

[ - ] Kozel [op] 0 points 4 monthsDec 28, 2024 22:31:49 ago (+0/-0)

Shut the fuck up you gaslighting faggot

ou bought and used a shit tool and are bitching about

My issue is with plastics breaking in general. Is the bottle cap on my mouthwash a tool? No? Then you just wrote some bullshit, faggot.

Ryobi has been Harbor Freight tier shit since I was in high school

Brandfag all you want nigger see if that brand ever fags for you.

[ - ] observation1 0 points 4 monthsDec 29, 2024 04:09:04 ago (+0/-0)

Its a coincidence that your mouthwash cap broke. Happened to me with Listerine once. I stopped using mouthwash. And just floss now.

Ryobi is a shit brand, so don't think too hard. If Israel owns it then more reason to sell.

Don't leave plastic in the UV sun and everything wil be fine. Calm down.

[ - ] Master_Foo 7 points 4 monthsDec 28, 2024 19:23:23 ago (+7/-0)

UV light is #1 suspect.

[ - ] 2Drunk 2 points 4 monthsDec 28, 2024 20:05:04 ago (+2/-0)

My washer just died. That burning electrical smell is not a good sign.

[ - ] MasklessTheGreat 2 points 4 monthsDec 28, 2024 20:23:27 ago (+2/-0)

Because you bought a fuckin ryobi you fucking faggot.

Ryobi tools are hot garbage, same goes for milwaulkee.

[ - ] Kozel [op] 0 points 4 monthsDec 29, 2024 18:44:48 ago (+0/-0)

I lifted my car, replaced windows, swapped out patio screens, ran cabling, attached fixtures, drilled through walls, and all sorts of home improvement and car and tech work with them. So far I had a failure on a rotary tool rod bunching up which ryobi replaced about 1 week after and then this vacuum.

[ - ] lolxd 1 point 4 monthsDec 28, 2024 20:39:07 ago (+1/-0)

Every worth a shit store power tool brand sources parts from Black and Decker. Paying full price for Milwuakee or Dewalt etc, is for suckers when you get the same grade shit in a slightly different piece of plastic from the same factory.

[ - ] Clueless_Enigma 3 points 4 monthsDec 28, 2024 20:45:58 ago (+3/-0)

Save for Hilti or Makita, he's correct. Only two prominent tool brands are still independent of umbrella corporate ownership, and that's Makita and Hilti.

[ - ] oyveyo 1 point 4 monthsDec 28, 2024 22:28:20 ago (+1/-0)

Makita Master Race \O

[ - ] Clueless_Enigma 1 point 4 monthsDec 29, 2024 03:47:14 ago (+1/-0)

Repairable tools, full part listings alongside Exploded view diagrams, decent reinfprced plastics from chinesium factories when necessary, but they also have factories in Romania, Japan, US (allegedly iirc?).

The Made in Japan tools are beyond the pale with their attention to detail, expensive as frick to import to the states admittedly, but thats due in large part to Fed contracts with China getting priority preference to tool manufacturing. Hence why all the US tool sets end with a Z (eg Makita XPH14Z would be US market 1/2 Hammer Driver)

TLDR Japs make a good tool, Maybe if we Nuke China they'll strighten up their act and end Communism.

I’ve always favored Makita, going on 40 years now. My first stuff was made in Japan. The old Hypoid worm drive saw with blade brake, fucking awesome.

Where does Skil/Flex/E-Go stand?

[ - ] Clueless_Enigma 1 point 4 monthsDec 29, 2024 03:32:12 ago (+1/-0)

Owned by Chervon, same parent that owns Kobalt: https://files.catbox.moe/67ydtn.jpg

[ - ] Anus_Expander 1 point 4 monthsDec 28, 2024 23:04:31 ago (+1/-0)

Nonsense. The factories may make the tools, but B+D have the shittiest quality parts, whereas Dewalt have the highest quality. I use power tools every day of my life. There is a HUGE difference in quality between the two. Noise, precision, vibration, etc etc. NO real tradesmen have B+D tools, but Dewalt is on every jobsite, along with Makita...for a REASON. They can run all day, every day. I am very hard on my tools, the Dewalts go and go and go. I had a B+D sander, new, many years ago. It fried after one hour of sanding. SMOKED! My Dewalts get used brutally, all the time.

[ - ] Clueless_Enigma 0 points 4 monthsDec 29, 2024 03:54:06 ago (+1/-1)

DeWalt is owned by Parent Company StanleyBlack&Decker. Black & Decker is what Ryobi is to Milwaulkee, the platform where they demo novel designs that, if proven successful, get branded with the Dewalt Sticker and triple the price.

https://files.catbox.moe/67ydtn.jpg

[ - ] Anus_Expander 1 point 4 monthsDec 29, 2024 05:50:55 ago (+1/-0)

The materials used in Dewalts ARE MUCH HIGHER QUALITY, starting with the plastic shells. I have dropped Dewalts off roofs onto concrete, no cracks, tool still worked. Good luck dropping a B+D more than 6 inches.

[ - ] lolxd 1 point 4 monthsDec 30, 2024 00:10:34 ago (+1/-0)

Paying Full price is still the scam, sale prices is genuinely still a 30% markup of wholesale.

[ - ] Anus_Expander 0 points 4 monthsDec 30, 2024 07:16:10 ago (+0/-0)

How does one buy at discount? Do tell us your secrets. I use power tools 6 days a week.

[ - ] lolxd 0 points 4 monthsDec 30, 2024 11:25:37 ago (+0/-0)

Keep an eye out for sales, or have a real proper business account because you spend thousands a year already with a supplier that isn't Home Depot, Lowes, etc.

[ - ] MasklessTheGreat 0 points 4 monthsDec 28, 2024 20:44:25 ago (+0/-0)

Ok dude

[ - ] TheOriginal1Icemonkey 0 points 4 monthsDec 29, 2024 17:23:38 ago (+0/-0)

You do know that BD bought DeWalt years ago?

[ - ] allAheadFull 4 points 4 monthsDec 28, 2024 20:24:37 ago (+4/-0)

I've noticed a lot of inferior plastic lately, even in name brand products. It just decomposes. It's not everything so they must be making it wrong.

Also agree with Trope who said not to use mouthwash. The bacteria in your mouth is part of a complicated process that produces nitric oxide in your body. Every time you use mouthwash it takes days for proper recolonization and makes you more likely be unhealthy.

[ - ] Kozel [op] 4 points 4 monthsDec 28, 2024 20:48:37 ago (+4/-0)

I use it after deep flossing

The next day I rub lactobacilicus salvalius into my gums

[ - ] allAheadFull 0 points 4 monthsDec 29, 2024 21:22:42 ago (+0/-0)

Where do you get it?

[ - ] Kozel [op] 0 points 4 monthsDec 29, 2024 21:37:46 ago (+0/-0)

amazon it comes in a powder

[ - ] TheOriginal1Icemonkey 0 points 4 monthsDec 29, 2024 17:22:17 ago (+0/-0)

What about sodium bicarbonate?

[ - ] allAheadFull 1 point 4 monthsDec 29, 2024 23:31:40 ago (+1/-0)

As far as I know it's not an antiseptic, so I would guess that it's fine.

China.

[ - ] TheYiddler 5 points 4 monthsDec 28, 2024 21:52:05 ago (+5/-0)

All plastics are emitting gases. Some of those are very important to the integrity. Having plastic in your home is a mild poison and a big disappointment when it inevitably falls.

[ - ] drstrangergov 0 points 4 monthsDec 29, 2024 01:31:51 ago (+0/-0)

do you store them in the sun?

[ - ] Kozel [op] 0 points 4 monthsDec 29, 2024 02:01:43 ago (+0/-0)

no indoors

[ - ] mikenigger 0 points 4 monthsDec 29, 2024 01:35:12 ago (+0/-0)
