I agree we need something like that. Can't be a rep. before 25, can't be a senator before 30, president before 35. Why? Well you just don't have the requisite knowledge and experience. Okay, maybe one in a million has that, but we're going to have to miss that guy so the other 999,999 don't fuck it up.

Same with the age limits - at some point, 99.9999% of people, even if they've been politicians their whole careers, just don't have it anymore. They can become consultant elder statesmen or whatever. However, there have been a lot of effective politicians well into their 70s, with a precipitous drop off at 80 years old (see Mitch McConnell, Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Diane Feinstein, etc.). Hell Reagan's entire presidency was effectively served in his 70's. So mine would be the "Out by 80 Act." Of course, Congress likes their acronyms, so maybe the "Ban Octogenarian Officeholders" (BOO) Act.

I wouldn't even mind if the candidate ran in their late 70s, but there'd have to be a plan to replace them at 80 (could use existing laws/infrastructure in place to replace candidates mid-term).
