Napoleon dynamite is erfet example.

But it's very very rare.

People mostly want to go to movies to see how their favorite star is looking even if they'll deny it the whole time. Usually their favorite stars are people that they've grown up with and had lifetime experiences with through their other movies so they are the huge draw to most movies. This is why the studios built the star system. They knew this they invested millions and millions of dollars in the star system and the pr around it. They knew having a good star in a movie with saving otherwise dog movie and make most movies have far more attendance than they otherwise would.

I say yes because can anyone name an actual modern hollywood star? Someone whose name is enough to draw crowds to see their latest movie? I can't think of anyone except maybe Tom Cruise. The "hollywood star" is a relic of 20th century culture.

Modern hollywood is on life support. They know we know that they thrive in a culture of pedophilic con men, and that they refuse to change their culture while preaching moral superiority.

Per their own viewership data, middle America, their primary audience, has practically abandonded them since COVID. With their addiction to social media and inability to shut the fuck up about identity politics, actors have really alienated themselves from the average working American. They are simply not relevent to us in the internet era like they were to our parents and grandparents.

That's right. Boomers had only TV. Unable to communicate their opinions, only listen.
