DAY OF THE RAKE

[ - ] dalai_llama 4 points 3 monthsMar 11, 2025 12:40:01 ago (+4/-0)

I guess whenever there is a disagreement between nations we should just bow down in subservience because of "muh economy."

If that is the answer for everything then we've already lost and it's just a matter of time before we are subsumed by a wealthier nation. If we don't reassert our global position we will eventually be overcome. Then you'll finally get your wish and an economically aggressive nation like China will tell you how much you need to pay for everything. And chances are, you will find those prices to be unreasonable.

and how does paying more for canadian imports fix that issue? zognald still thinks he's dealing with random contractors in new york

It forces fair trade negotiations and makes it cheaper for companies to do business in America than buying materials from other countries which keeps the money circulating in house, i.e. more jobs and wealth accumulation for domestic workers/companies.
You're either ignorant or deliberately being deceptive.

where are you gonna import it cheaper? and if it's even possible to buy it cheaper elsewhere where was the notice to allow adjustments in the supply chain?

The 1st notice was on November 4th when Trump won the election.

The 2nd notice came on Jan 20th when he took office.

The 3rd notice came a month later when Trump discussed retaliatory tarrifs.

Did you need it in crayon?

By imposing tarrifs on Canadian goods, we pressure Canada to remove the tarriffs the they've placed on nearly 6000 types of goods being imported into Canada from the US.

If Canada wants to pretend that access to their markets, and their 30 million consumers, should cost American producers more money, then we'll do the same with our markets and our 400 million consumers.

Why is this anything less than fair and reasonable?

paying more for raw materials? why did nobody think of this before? /s

[ - ] KosherHiveKicker 7 points 3 monthsMar 11, 2025 12:29:07 ago (+7/-0)

You do realize that Trump is just ask for Canada to remove the tariffs that have been on American goods for over 40 years?

Trump wants ZERO tariffs on either side. Canada could end this entire disagreement by simply engaging in actual Free Trade.

[ - ] FreeinTX 6 points 3 monthsMar 11, 2025 12:33:26 ago (+6/-0)

I posted the list.

Canada has 5716 different tarrifs on American products.

[ - ] FreeinTX 6 points 3 monthsMar 11, 2025 12:28:47 ago (+6/-0)

You gonna pretend like Canada didn't have tariffs on American goods?

Sure. Who do you think imports more?

Resource rich Canada, with 30mil people, or resource starved usa with 400mil people?

[ - ] PotatoWhisperer2 4 points 3 monthsMar 11, 2025 14:52:44 ago (+4/-0)

We are not resource starved. It is intentional that we imported vast sums of valuables for mere bits of paper. Just because the jews are artificially restricting us from using our own resources doesn't mean that we don't have them.

[ - ] ItsOk2bArian 1 point 3 monthsMar 14, 2025 13:33:31 ago (+1/-0)

Imports aren't based on supply, they are based on purchase price. If it costs to much to import from Canada due to tariffs then American companies won't buy from Canada. Canada can stockpile resources all they want, if it's cheaper to ship it from overseas or buy domestically, then that's where the resources will come from.
Who told you the U.S.A. is resource starved? We have everything everyone else has, we just currently restrict it's consumption. Other countries are exhausting their resources to sell to us while we sit on our domestic stock loads. If they run low and ever have to buy from us, they'll pay ten times what we did. Lots of middle eastern countries have cheap or even free gasoline. Once their wells run dry, they'll have to pay out the ass for American oil and their countries will be crippled by it

Living in a delusion is fun, until it's not.

American exceptionalism is a serious mental illness.

[ - ] FreeinTX 3 points 3 monthsMar 11, 2025 15:07:43 ago (+3/-0)

Nigger, do you know how many tarrrifs Canada imposes on US goods? Can you link me to the place where you give 1 fuck about that?

Ya dumb nigger.
