Drill, tap, and reverse it out. Problem solved. There are even specific tools that don't require you to drill the bolt head to reverse it out.

Servicing your own brakes, oil changes, filter changes, and tire rotation(s) should be a required skill set. Shit like this wouldn't even be an issue.

Last time I had someone service my vehicle they didn't screw in the oil drain bolt and it popped out on the freeway.

That was over a decade ago. Now when I do oil, I run seafoam, clean my air filter, clean my MAF, and lift it up on one side so that even more oil pours out than if it was flat.

For it to be loose enough to fall into the free way it was lose enough to be leaking everywhere.

Did you blow up your engine?

[ - ] Kozel [op] 5 points 15 hoursMay 11, 2025 20:57:39 ago (+5/-0)

No, they came out and replaced the drain bolt in a parking lot and added oil. Then we went back. Then they denied they did anything wrong and claimed I did it myself. I tried to contact Meinkeke corporate but they deleted my order number from the system. I gave up at that point, being a dumb 20 year old. If this had happened in current times they would have had a 10k small claims suit.

When we are young we have a tendency to believe we can overcome any obstacle and be just fine. After a few years of experience we figure out that sometimes we need to take a stand for ourselves.

"being a dumb 20 year old"

In my yufe bought a new muffler from Midas. Less than two years later the car slowly started running like crap until the tailpipe broke in two parts, then it ran like slick snot again. It was under warantee but I was some broke kid in another state. The local hillbilly Midas shop charged me $45 for a 'custom pipe' to attach the new one.

I remember an investigative sting op against Firestone back in the 1980s. They used women and ignorant customers as bait. I forget the numbers but something like 80% of all service orders included overcharging or replacement of un-needed parts.

But that was organized corporate fraud. Not niggers.

[ - ] RMGoetbbels 7 points 18 hoursMay 11, 2025 18:28:11 ago (+7/-0)

What a bastard. The nigger music should have given it away though.

[ - ] Thyhorrorcosmic103 5 points 16 hoursMay 11, 2025 20:14:11 ago (+5/-0)

You don’t need that screw anyways.

[ - ] Peleg 0 points 4 hoursMay 12, 2025 08:38:53 ago (+0/-0)

Just an extra that some retard engineer threw in there. Lol

[ - ] Trope 1 point 12 hoursMay 12, 2025 00:03:32 ago (+1/-0)

Gotta strip em good to make sure no one takes it out!

[ - ] bosunmoon 1 point 17 hoursMay 11, 2025 19:15:47 ago (+1/-0)

What is even the point of those fucking screws? don't the lugs hold the rotor on?

[ - ] lolxd 4 points 17 hoursMay 11, 2025 19:23:10 ago (+4/-0)

Shitskin Engineering.

[ - ] allAheadFull 2 points 15 hoursMay 11, 2025 20:56:41 ago (+2/-0)

I always assumed it is just to hold the rotor on while it's still on the assembly line.

[ - ] 2024SantaFe 2 points 15 hoursMay 11, 2025 21:16:34 ago (+2/-0)

They do that on some cars but they are mostly there to make removing a stuck rotor possible. You impact a bolt in and it presses on the hub. The assembly line often uses a nut called a Tinnerman nut but anyways. Buddy in the video appears to be using a Mac 20V impact with Amazon sourced #3 philips. Overall I rate his setup as Nigger tier. Get a Milwaukee as MAC/DeWalt will never be the GOAT. He also doesn't show his skin, nigger confirmed.

Just makes it easier to put the caliper on that's it

[ - ] Moravian 2 points 14 hoursMay 11, 2025 22:42:35 ago (+2/-0)

The point of the screw is to hold the rotor while you install the caliper housing with the pads. Makes life easier. Also it keeps debris from falling in between the rotor and hub face when installing everything else.

More like asshole mechanic.

[ - ] LiberalsAreMental 0 points 13 hoursMay 11, 2025 22:58:56 ago (+0/-0)

Without treadlock, that will back out in a week to a few weeks.

[ - ] HeyJames 0 points 14 hoursMay 11, 2025 22:30:00 ago (+0/-0)

Those tend to rust and need extracted anyways

[ - ] CoronaHoax 0 points 16 hoursMay 11, 2025 20:37:34 ago (+0/-0)
