I can understand not liking someone and downvoting them when you see a post. But when you stalk someone's account to downvote every comment they've ever made and will make, that is when I have a problem with it. There will be no rules or guidelines, if I feel you are abusing the downvote button, I will reverse every downvote you've ever made. Plain and simple. If you feel like you have a downvote stalker, PM me. If that turns out to be the case I will fix the problem ASAP. Already reversed the votes of one account, so if you have extra votes this morning that might be why. Also worth mentioning I removed the 10/10 voting limit. I know that seems counter-intuitive, but I received a lot of complaints and tbh I am not a fan of it myself, so we'll try this out instead.
If you stick to 10 or under downvotes per day per user you should be good. That being said, I don't like people consistently edging right up to the limit, which is why I am hesitant make that limit known. I don't investigate unless there is a complaint. Your voting restriction will end on Wednesday.

I would ask you to reconsider, this kind of "soft rule" is exactly why I left poal. If certain voting patterns are against the rules, make it explicit and restrict that behaviour on an application level. It's unreasonable to expect the users to know what your personal sense of fairness is in any particular scenario. It's also impractical as you won't be able to keep up with moderation demands as the site grows.
There are many ways to avoid downvote brigades without needing selective enforcement. I think the "10 per day, per account" rule was a good one. Also old voat's practice of restricting access to downvotes based on upvotes received.

I think an automated system like downvoat limits tied to upvoats or ccp would be better.
Have you considered a system where users could see who downvoated them? One could avoid the harasser or avoid upvoating them or revenge downvoat them.
It might encourage more useful conversations if one knew others could see their downvoats. But nobody cares if a an actual spammer see you have downvoated them or if the downvoat was in leiu of a 'fuck you'.
Well, he's a redditor for starters. He also quit ruqqus in the same manner, only he didn't delete his account - just stopped posting "in protest" to admin abuse. He had all the same subs on ruqqus as here, and granted, the admins were power abusing kikes and I got along with him at the time (his name was Milkit and he pissed off the same jews I did), so his company was a lot more tolerable on that platform. Brigading someone's posting history is definitely a ruqqus thing. I got brigaded as JosephGoebbels any time I'd comment, just because of the name. I would go from 300+ to -5 (it maxed out at -5, you didn't get to see the actual score below that) regularly and would make good posts to counter it. You had to have 250 points to make a sub, and it took me a while to get there.
So essentially what happened was, in his mind, admin abuse. System took away all the "work" he had done by reversing all his downvotes. So, he rage quit. His quitting ruqqus was over rule changes that forced subs into categories, and if it was political, new users were automatically opted out by default. His memeries sub mirrors his TheMemery on ruqqus, which had as many subscribers as the admin's crony's sub DeuxRama. They all pitched a fit about his trolling and got the admins to intervene on their behalf. So there was some bullshit going on, but he quit so early in that he survived the mass of ban waves. When they eventually DID ban him he wasn't even posting.
I feel like @system is a good dude going through some growing pains in terms of running a site like this.
The temptation to fiddle around with things is real powerful when you're on that end of the internet buttons but I have hope he'll learn and do better. It's heartening that he's undoing the vote limits, shows he's willing to walk back unpopular decisions instead of being a dickhead and doubling down.
On V1 he used several alts to avoid those downvotes. If a comment reached -3 he would delete it, and repost. I used to keep a list of his alts, a couple I remember were @oaf & @oar.

I prefer sensible limits than having the admin have to go through cases on an individual basis. The punishment is also starting to feel like AOU-level. I've said in the past that 10 votes is too much power for one user to have over another user's reputation in one day. One vote allowed per day for/against a single user is fine. That also makes it a lot harder for alts to manipulate votes.
SIMPLE : to start, to prevent the nonsense with obvious downvoating puppet accounts like TheSimulacra, just restrict downvotes to 10% of your upvotes you give, and block downvoating until you reach CCP > 100 from other usrs no user allowed to account for more than 10% (10 votes) of the first organic 100 votes in.

I've said in the past that 10 votes is too much power for one user to have over another user's reputation in one day. One vote allowed per day for/against a single user is fine. That also makes it a lot harder for alts to manipulate votes.

I commented on a story about BLM wanting to start a race war and wanting to know who every white Christian conservative was so they could be dealt with.
I made a comment essentially saying why done we find out who THOSE people were, their friends and family, and deal with them in the same way they deal with us.
AOU tanked my account’s karma (or whatever bullshit it is) so I can only comment once every 5 minutes, can’t see user’s data, and am limited to where I can post. He says I violated terms of service by doxxing and threatening violence. I linked a bunch of comments saying “gas the kikes”, and “of course protesters in the street should be run over”, and that only pissed him off more.
I also love how the jackass will arbitrarily move posts to obscure subs where he likes them more....
