1st person Vs 3rd person view games

Great minds play only 3rd person view games. Average minds play both 1st and 3rd person views games. Small minds play only 1st person view games. So who are you?

Obviously old 1st person view games don't count, because of hardware limitations.

Depends on the genre really. Third Person Shooter games are generally made for a target audience that would go 0-50 against any average level Quake Player 1v1. Third person vs First Person for other games are really neither bad nor good.

EverQuest (1999) had both options available at all times.

You could mousewheel out to a huge distance to a 3rd person perspective when outdoors, and then mousewheel into 1st person when indoors, inside tight dungeons.

It was played on Pent. III 33-66MHz machines, with less than 1Gig of ram, and shit video cards.

Horde is for soy_gimps that need the proven crutch of OP PvP racials, preferential bases (both locations, and superior NPC guards), and quested gear.

Regardless, Gothic series are in 3rd view, so 3rd view.

I find this theory interesting. We can’t paint with a wide brush here, but to be perfectly frank, I’ve always found FPS games to cater to the lowest common denominator.

But in the late 90s, the barrier to entry with a FPS involved being technically adept enough to run a computer that could play such games. So this entire ideology is rooted in generalizations.

But the dumb kids have been playing the same Call of Duty games for the last 24 years with Destiny 2 being the basic Vanilla Latte of the gaming world.

Ultimately, I’d suggest investigating the archetypes of those who have video gaming both the most and least integrated into their lives. I’ll fag out for a few classics but otherwise am not a gamer by any means.

EverQuest Classic (1999) set the standard for all other MMORPGs to follow. It offered 1st person and 3rd person on demand at any time.

To date... it is still the most brutal game to level, raid, and pvp in. It required true knowledge of your class, skill, and the various rolls you could fill in multiple settings.

I quit gaming years ago. Anyway, I find it annoying not being allowed to see my avatar in the game. It's stupid, unless you have to inspect the environment around you.
