Kraut harvest. Ten times this left to harvest.

Intercropped them between my potato rows, with a good dusting of mayweek, cilantro, and radish seeds. My first year to get good dense heads of cabbage that weren't tunneled throughout by cabbage loopers, and I lost no garden space to them.

Moringa Documentary; "The Miracle Tree"

Claims are made that its tiny leaves contains 7 times the Vit C of oranges, 4 times the Vit A of Carrots, 4 times the Calcium of milk, 3 times the Potassium of Bananas, and 2 times the protein of yogurt.
It also has almost all of the essential amino acids available as simple proteins that we humans require that are easily digestible.

I have no idea what I'm doing half of the time so I kind of winged it with the whole compost thing and accidently guerilla gardened.

the squash that didn't take last year grew this year everywhere.and the tomatoes seeds I think just walked around everywhere so now I have squash and tomatoes plants like right in with each other .. I googled it to see if I needed to transplant and woohoo they're great companions apparently

I lucked out. Oh and an even better surprise the honey dew is germinating !!!!

Fuck haarp I'm know they were gunning for me but as the title states god loves me and smitted? Smote? their weak ass efforts.

T. Pachanoi or San Pedro is a type of cactus that produces mescaline. I've been collecting them for a while, but I noticed something cool with this one. It underwent a mutation called cresting. It's normally supposed to have between 5 and seven ribs, but this guy has at least 16 at the top that are fanning out.

Pomegranate!     (files.catbox.moe)

Was out mowing the yard when a bit of red caught my eye on the pomegranate bush. I bought a couple bare root plants a few years back, basically looked like a little stick with some roots dangling off the end. One didn't make it through the first winter, but the other kept struggling back the past few years. The bush is now a little over 6 feet tall, and this is the first time it's flowered/fruited. I'm pretty pysched about it. Hopefully, I'll have a picture to share this fall of a mature fruit.

Should people get rid of their garden lawns?     (www.bbc.com)

https://www.bbc.com/future/article/20220426-should-people-get-rid-of-their-garden-lawns

"Indeed, some people, such as the residents of California – who, like the peoples of many arid zones around the world, have suffered a series of droughts over recent years – are now even being paid to rip out their lawns. They get up to $2 (£1.53) for each square foot of turf grass that they remove, with the state also offering subsidies to those who have artificial grass installed.".

Finally warm enough to start some transplants      (Gardening)

8k plus seed starts, 200lbs of seed potatoes, four weekends of scheduled in situ planting.

I got the first batch of brassicas moved to beds, they should be fine since the last frost is four weeks away and they do fine freezing in the greenhouse.

Weent heavy on the medicinal herbs and European wildflowers again this year.

The irrigation ditch starts running water next weeks so everything should green up quickly despite no rain for months.

The bass and bluegill have started to get active in the pond, so the crawfish should be along soon to start harvesting.

Only two but I'm over the moon because I didn't think there were any because the birds love the blossoms but these two monsters were growing quietly away superbly camouflaged. Unusual taste - menthol.

American stinky bugs are effete whereas Australian stinky bugs are armour-plated poison shooters.     (i.ibb.co)

https://i.ibb.co/k5d1VS3/Bronze-Stink-Bug.jpg

I say this because the YouTube videos about stinky-bug control, seemingly made by Americans, say that dishwashing detergent ("Dawn") will dispatch the critters - it won't. And, believe it or not, neither will pure vinegar or vinegar mixed with soapy water. All the vinegar did was burn the new tree branch shoots.

I've spent hours blasting the monsters with these mixtures from my water cannon and...come the next day it's as if I'd done nothing - millions of 'em still there.

Solution. I used clothes-washing (laundry) detergent - Ultra Concentrate - and it was a turkey shoot. The 37C heat yesterday forced the varmints to the cool at the bottom of the tree where some of them continued their orgies. Smashing the love-making couples with a blast of death was particularly satisfying. Yes, I got quite carried away but after days of nil results I was on a rampage.

So...if you need to deal with stinky bugs...use laundry detergent (and water), not dishwashing detergent.

The tomatoes at the forefront of a food revolution     (www.bbc.com)

The plant was created by geneticist Tomas Cermak and his colleagues with the use of Crispr gene editing, a Nobel Prize-winning technology which works like a "cut and paste" tool for genetic material. The technique is now revolutionising agriculture and helping create crops for the future.

I've been trying to get a pond that will hold water through the winter, for the last few years. Bentonite clay with a reinforced liner over the top, then riprap to protect it from deer feet.

I should let Middle and Horse know that this place exists.
