Remember that sinking feeling you got in your stomach back when your seventh grade science teacher told the class that the sun is slowly expanding and would eventually enter it's red giant phase when energy production increases dramatically and forces the star to expand more than 200 times in order to reach a new equilibrium state and the sun would swallow up and destroy the Earth?

And then he told you that it wasn't going to happen for about another 5 billion years?
