My mother in law got my kid a niglet baby doll for Christmas, I'm still deciding what to do

I hate it. She got one of my kids the Niglet and my other kid got one who looks retarded. (but is not Kmart's actual down syndrome doll. Really the whole range look retarded.

I don't like sneakily getting rid of my toys, but I am very tempted to. I thought maybe I could wait until she is being naughty and not cleaning up and using the old line my mum used "if you don't put it away I'll put it in the bin" and then follow through. I could be honest and say "I don't want you playing with it" but not sure an age appropriate way of having that conversation.

So I went on reddit and reversed the situation and said 'my mother in law bought a racist doll how do I get rid of it?' And all the fucking retards are just asking what racist doll it is. I said it is a golliwog. I think they all assume nobody can make a racist doll anymore and if someone did they want to cancel it. Only a couple have guessed a hand me down Golliwog. A couple have assumed (correctly lol) that it was just a black doll and I'm the racist.

Two things here. Don't treat it like something that has value and ought to be missed. Also, don't punish your kid for being given the doll. Try to dispose of it discreetly after your kid is bored of it. It shouldn't take long--even toys that are actually cool sometimes last less than a day if the kid has alternative stimulation available. If the kid happens to notice, then you can be a hero and swoop in with the positive experience of buying a more suitable doll.

Yeah. It's going to make me look like a huge cunt but I think going forward I will have to do this. I made a wish list of approved items they wanted with a wide variety of price ranges (they already have dolls kinda like this, but cute). I will just peek at the presents from now on and if they are like this give them back before the kids open them, I could also keep a cheap stand by present that they could give instead.

I like this idea. Get her a regular dol which will be far more beautiful to her and she will more readily connect with. And naturally the baby will make a choice that chooses the white doll.

But here's what you need to do next. Send the doll back to the mother in law or a note from some donation center where you donated the doll, and in a completely objective and professional manner you should THANK the MIL for her donation to such and such charity and that you're sure some child will love her doll.
