She has done a lot to help and build up this website, but our differences are too great to deal with any longer so I have ended our working relationship. I will be passively looking for a new mod to replace her. In the mean time please ping me with @system or send a PM with any issue that arise.

Edit: Just to be clear, the site's rules will remain the same and penalties still enacted. Ping @system to report any issues.

Edit 2: If you're noticing this thread loading slowly it's because there are 150+ comments here. This is why similar sites hide comments after a certain amount. I hate having to click load new comments but it's something I will eventually have to fully implement.

Following a user allows you to easily view their posted topics. You can follow a user by clicking the follow button in their profile. Clicking 'Followed' in the subverse category selector in the nav bar (top left, it's set to "all" as default) displays topics from all your followed users. The hot/new/top post filters work for this category (and all categories).

This applies to the default talk.lol theme, not voat mode. I'd like to do one for each holiday (don't mark my words). The site will go back to default when the holiday is over.

Testing new chat (TalkDev)

Chat has been revamped. It looks pretty much the same but underneath it's now running it's own web server. This allows for real time communication and other potential stuff.

Currently there are 2 rooms. Global and videos but I will open up music soon. You can switch between rooms with /room nameofroom. Videos and music are "video" rooms where you can queue youtube videos up and they will play in sync across devices in the chat. Queue a video with /video and the youtube url or id. You can skip a video you've queued (while it's playing) with /skip. Music has a 10 minute limit and videos has a 30 minute limit.

The chat log will now only load the last 20 messages. You can reload the daily log with /loadlog. This works for global chat only and only while in the full sized chat window.

This is a beta test so there will be problems. Please report any you come across.

Edit: Some people are having trouble with the new chat. I want to figure this out and the more information you provide the better. In the mean time you can use the full sized chat window here https://www.voat.xyz/frontchat?chatview=full

Anon posts now have their own block button. This will block all *anon* posts from this user but will leave other posts untouched. This is to prevent people from randomly blocking users in an attempt to unmask an anon post. You can manage your blocked users in your account options, there's a button for it. Here you can unblock users you've blocked, or for anons there is a single button which will clear them all out.

The issue with not being able to delete comments has been fixed (TalkDev)

These new tags are alternatives for all and subscribed. I also added one called "default" which displays the sites default subs.

Selecting a tag will persist until you change it, or until your current session expires.

Some subs might not fit or could fit better elsewhere. I will tweak these later.

In anon threads look below the sort links and there will be a button. Click that to toggle between posting comments as anon or not. This setting resets itself back to default with each new session.

With the launch of Talk, I want to have a clean slate to work with. Prior to this relaunch I did a lot of thinking about all elements of the site, and one of those topics is bans. I've received many comments from people about bans lately, and I listened and agree with a lot of them. Early in the site's life banning was the only way to enforce the rules. But a ban doesn't fit every situation. So I created suspensions not long ago. And to take the idea of being able to enforce rules without having to ban further, I've created a way to limit certain parts of the site if needed. For example, a vote manipulator could be suspended from voting temporarily, or have voting disabled entirely if the behavior continues. A spammer could be rate limited to 5/15/60/90 minutes between posts and comments. Someone posting porn without a tag repeatedly could lose the ability to post link posts, either indefinitely or temporarily. These scenarios are examples of the route I want to go down when it comes to taking authoritative action on this website. If these methods fail then a suspension will be warranted. If multiple suspensions fail, only then will a ban be issued. The two things that are excluded from all this and will result in an instant ban are 1. Posting CP. 2. Doxxing a user of the site. All users up to this point have been unbanned with the exception of one who was banned for doxxing another user. Some older bans could not be undone so they have been removed from the database.

Also worth mentioning: If you do not like a user, the block feature has been improved recently. It now fills in the blocked content with other content, so the full 25 topics still display per page.

It was Febuary 2021...

Voat.co had been gone for a couple months, Trump was out of office, and the smoke of burning cities was still in the air. The MAGA dream was dead and all hope was lost. It was the end of a era and it really felt like it. I think back to 2016 and damn.. Couldn't have imagined how it would all turn out.

I started this website as an experiment because I missed voat and there was no where else like it to go. I could never imagine it would all come together and actually work, especially 6 months later. While creating a literal voat clone was useful to spread awareness and rebuild the community, as the site matures it's become a strain overall due to liability concerns and other reasons that I've been dealing with. So talk.lol will become the site's official name and domain. The site's default theme has changed, so no more voat goat. The goat has been replaced with stick figures. Yeah I know, lame, but I have bigger plans eventually. I am sure some will hate these changes so I went out of my way to make this painless. All accounts registered up till this point will receive a 'Gen Xyz Goat' badge. This badge is special because it unlocks 'voat mode', which opens up an option in your account options. This mode enables the classic voat theme, goat and all. You can enable disable and re enable any time.

If you prefer to use the voat.xyz domain you can continue to use it. There are no differences between the domains. Also I imagine searchvoat.co will continue to archive the site, I don't see any reason he wouldn't. I will work on getting getting our own search feature regardless.

This was a tough decision, but one I feel had to be made. I loved voat.co and hated to see it die. But it really is the end of an era and the beginning of a new one. Time to see where the current takes us.

PS. I will still be referring to you all as goats, that is not changing.

Have you ever voted on something and wanted to check up on it later? But you didn't save the thread, and you can't find it? That is a problem no more with the ability to view a list of threads and comments you've voted on. You can access it by clicking your "votes given" score in the nav bar https://files.catbox.moe/vb3ezx.png

It will display stuff you've voted on from the last 1-3 months. I could possibly have it display all stuff you've ever voted on but that will require a bit more work, so if it's heavily requested I might make it happen. The direct link is
